Consuelo Castro

Funeral services for Consuelo Castro 16 of Little Eagle will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Elk Horn Congregational Church in Little Eagle.  Burial will be in the Elk Horn Congregational Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.  An all night wake will be held Monday evening beginning at 6:00 PM at the Blue Gym in Little Eagle.  Consuelo passed away November 1, 2008 at Little Eagle. 

Consuelo Castro was born June 10, 1992 to Eloise Flying By and Pedro Castro at Mobridge, SD.  She grew up in Little Eagle and attended school there through the 8^th grade.

Consuelo was baptized and was a member of the Elk Horn Congregational Church in Little Eagle.  She loved going to church and being around the people at church.  Always smiling and waiting on people.  She was part of a singing group that sang Lakota Hymns.  She enjoyed doing projects at church and decorating the church for the holidays and other special events.

Consuelo also loved little children and enjoyed babysitting, something that she did often to earn extra money.  She also loved cats and dogs and was known for picking up strays and trying to find new homes for them.  She was a very sharing person with a soft heart that kept her smiling and laughing and enjoyed spending special time and helping her grandmother Adele Little Dog.  She also liked to travel and experience new things.  She had in participated in the Sun Dance for four years.

She is survived by her mother Eloise Flying By of Little Eagle, SD.  Her father Pedro Castro of Ogden, UT. Brothers Justin Yellow Earrings and Nathan Castro both of Little Eagle. Adopted father Sylvan Brown, Grandmothers Adele Little Dog, Henrietta Bobtail Bear, Lucille Yellow Earrings, Diane Brown Otter, Amelia Long Feather, Rena LaFrambois and Darlene LaBlanc. Aunties  and Uncles Ralph and Phyllis White, Edison and Della Uses Arrow, Terry and Lena Flying By, Allen Flying By, Virgil and Dawn Standing Crow, Russell and Cordelia Benoist, Chet and Faye Condon, Wilbur Flying By Sr., Russell and Charlene Flying By, Myron and Teri Flying By, Menoda Flying By, Nina Mata, Richard and Susie Weyaus, Sylvia Culbertson, Hazel Culbertson, Marlene Kills Crow, Adrian  Kills Crow, Stanford and Marge Edwards, Arlene Shoots The Enemy, Joyce Promise, Randy Carrion, Diane Kills Crow, Connie Uses Arrow, Lisa Carrion, Barbara Grindstone, Jean Adele Grindstone, Geraldine Looking Elk and Alex Looking Elk. Grandfathers Melvin Foster, Aaron Grindstone, Mathew Bear Eagle and many cousins’ nieces and nephews. Her very special friends Desarae Makes Him First, Heaven Strong Heart, Nellie Grindstone, Jolanda Thompson, Taya Volk and her six toed cat Baby.

She was preceded in death by her sister Jaylin Yellow Earrings, special Grandfather Joseph Flying Bye and grandmother Irene Flying Bye.

Casketbearers will be Greg White, Wilbur Flying By Jr., Earl Grindstone Jr., Leighton Thompson, Andrew Kills Crow, Edison Uses Arrow, Fred Gilbert, and Reuben Flying By.
